Once the 2018 Farm Bill was signed by President Trump, the states could choose to implement hemp legislation of their own at a local level. Minnesota passed the Industrial Hemp Development Act in 2019 to further lay out what was and was not allowed for hemp cultivation in Minnesota.
The Industrial Hemp Development Act defines industrial hemp as being any part of the cannabis Sativa plant that can be cultivated and produced for making hemp-derived products. This includes seeds, oils, derivatives, extracts, isomers, salts, and acids.
For industrial hemp to be legal in Minnesota, it must be grown and produced by a licensed refinery. The license will be issued by the Minnesota Commissioner of Agriculture. Industrial hemp can only contain a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of no more than 0.3% on a dry weight basis.
What Is Delta 9 THC?
