When derived from hemp in concentrations less than 0.3% by dry weight, hemp-derived Delta 9 THC products are federally legal in the United States, thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill that removed hemp as a federally controlled substance. This legislation states that any hemp with Delta 9 THC levels at or below 0.3% dry weight meet the federal standards.

How Long Do the Effects of Delta 9 THC Last?

As we mentioned earlier, every person will react to substances differently. This means your delta 9 THC high may not last as long as someone else’s. 

When taking the recommended dose of delta 9 edibles, the effects will typically last between three to five hours. Taking more than the recommended dose of delta 9 edibles can cause the effects to last longer—typically between six to eight hours.

It’s important to always start with the recommended dosage of delta 9 THC products to see how your body will react to it. Users may experience mild side effects, including paranoia, hallucinations, or believing that they have an increased heart rate. 

While these side effects are mild, they can last the duration of the high, leaving the user with a less than enjoyable experience. Consuming more than the recommended dosage of delta 9 THC products can exacerbate these side effects and cause them to last as long as six to eight hours.

Is Delta 9 Safe?

Hemp-derived delta 9 THC products are safe if consumed responsibly. This is why it is important to understand the recommended dosage amount and to only consume that amount. We always recommend consuming the recommended dosage for our edibles so that you can see how your body will react to them. This will help you understand if you need to take an additional dosage to feel the effects. Just make sure you wait at least 90 minutes before taking an additional dosage since the effects can be felt as many as 90 minutes after consumption.

If you think you have taken too much delta 9 THC, try to sleep it off. Resting and giving in to the feeling will help pass the time and make the experience more enjoyable. The effects can last as long as eight hours if too much delta 9 has been taken, so try to fall asleep to pass the time.
